Our Teaching Methodology
We put much effort into creating the perfect environment for our children to grow and mature. Our teaching methodology combines several approaches that foster basic intellectual and social foundations, and our educators have implemented several teaching methods that challenge children to express themselves while learning.
The 4 Stages of Development
At Les Fanfans Daycare, we have designed a curriculum around those 4 early stages of development, and built a foundation for kids to learn, play and grow in our state-of-the-art facility under the care of our nurturing educators and staff.
Cooperative learning is a teaching method that groups students into pairs or small groups where they are challenged to complete a task. This teaching method promotes peer-to-peer respect and develops understanding of each other’s interest, skills and needs. Furthermore, it encourages students to take control over their own learning experience by providing ample opportunity for them to express and share their personal concerns, feelings and thoughts. Group task in cooperative learning are structured to involve the entire group and can’t be completed by only one person. The teacher should monitor group activity and intervene when necessary to clarify instructions and demonstrate good team behavior.
The hands-on approach is a teaching method that encourages students to learn by doing and by example. Using props helps students to learn about abstract concepts, develop critical thinking and solve problems. Teaching students about basic mathematics concepts such as addition and subtraction, for example, might involve the use of board games. Computers also play a role in hands-on learning when students are encouraged to learn a concept through an education game or in an interactive multimedia format. Again, students are encouraged to be actively involved in their own education.
Conference learning is a teaching method that gives a teacher one-on-one time with each student. This works best while the other students are engaged in an activity or play time, which will help tailor lessons, activities.
An Ideal kindergarten classroom is a safe environment that provides ample opportunity for children to play, which in turn develops confidence and social skills. The fist step to play as a teaching method is observation – then the teacher can structure the play. Teachers should do so without dominating or directing the play, but by sharing the experience with the children and presenting ideas and materials that will help extend the play into a learning experience. If children at play are having an imaginary era party, for example, the teacher should knock on the door and ask to join, sit at the table and drink imaginary tea. The play is extended when the teacher ask questions about what’s being served introduces new vocabulary and adds ideas.

Our Program Philosophy
We treat our children with respect and strive to instill within each of them as well as a love for learning. We provide each child with an environment that is safe, healthy and promotes learning.
- We believe that children learning by doing. We operate a developmentally appropriate program that provides each child with many large group, small group, and individual experiences to aid in their cognitive, physical, social, emotional development.
- We believe that the dedication of our teachers and their desire to provide a healthy environment allows our program to be successful. They are vital to our program and we provide them with all of the support they need to accomplish their mission.
- We believe that parents are the primary teachers and role models for their children. We strive to partner with ten and offer them guidance, encouragement, and support in nurturing their children to become responsible adults.
- We believe that we must all work together to teach our children how to behave appropriately. We guide the behavior of the children entrusted to us through positive methods such as modeling and helping them to learn the language necessary to express their feelings.
- Our greatest hope for ourselves and the children in our care is that we will set the example for them to follow to allow them to reach their highest potential.
Curriculum
